THE TIME TRIBE Online Privacy Policy

THE TIME TRIBE, LLC (“THE TIME TRIBE”) respects the privacy of our online visitors and recognizes the importance of providing a secure environment for them. We have adopted an online Privacy Policy that guides how we collect, store, and use the information you provide us. This Privacy Policy details how THE TIME TRIBE safeguards the privacy of its online visitors. It does not apply to information that may be collected by THE TIME TRIBE off-line.

I. Collection of Information

Children’s Privacy

We believe protecting personal information about young children is important. We urge parents to instruct their children to never give out their real names, addresses, or phone numbers, without permission, when online.

THE TIME TRIBE is committed to providing a fun, safe environment for children and people of all ages. Since many of our visitors are children, we strive to make sure that our privacy practices fully comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998. We do not require a child to provide more personally identifiable information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity.

Other than a valid e-mail address, which we ONLY use for creation of a user name at sign-up and password retrieval/resetting, we do not request any personally identifiable information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. We do NOT permanently store anyone’s e-mail address after they sign up. Instead, once the initial welcome e-mail is sent out, we “hash” the e-mail address into a unique, non-reversible string using a hashing algorithm, and we permanently store that in a completely separate location that is not linked to the user’s account in any way.

The actual e-mail address is then permanently DELETED from our system. Since this e-mail “hash” is NOT reversible and is not linked to any account on the site, the e-mail address becomes completely invalid and unidentifiable. As an example of what a hashed e-mail looks like, the e-mail address might be turned into a “hash value” of “4d68807rgfh4d54xp128xcvf43638r7m”. When the user forgets the password associated with the account, the site requests the original email address, hashes it, and compares the two hash values. If they match, the site would email the password reminder to the user. This avoids the necessity to actually store the valid e-mail address.

At THE TIME TRIBE, we strive to ensure that kids have a safe and fun online experience. We believe that it is very important that parents are given the opportunity to see what kind of information has been collected from their child, to be able to modify and/or delete any personally identifiable information, and/or request that no further personally identifiable information is collected on their child.

When contacting us to review your child’s information, please be sure to include an e-mail address and phone number where we can reach you. In order to protect your child’s privacy and security, we must take necessary steps to verify your identity to ensure that you are in fact the child’s parent or legal guardian.

Our community features, if available, are designed to prevent visitors from posting personally identifiable information. Participation requires only a user name, and postings are screened to prevent inclusion of personal information.

  • NOT collect more information than needed to respond to a question or one-time request from a child under 13, provide parental notice, or obtain parental consent.
  • NOT collect personally identifiable offline contact information from users known to be under 13 without prior verifiable parental consent.
  • NOT distribute to third parties any personally identifiable information collected from children known to be under 13 absent parental consent.

Aggregate Information

We may take your personally identifiable information and make it non-personally identifiable, either by combining it with information about other individuals (aggregating your information with information about other individuals), or by removing characteristics (such as your name) that make the information personally identifiable to you (de-personalizing your information). Given the nature of this information, no restrictions apply under this Privacy Policy on our right to aggregate or de-personalize your personal information, and we may use and share in any way the resulting non-personally identifiable information with third parties.

Measures To Safeguard Personally Identifiable Information

The security and confidentiality of your information is extremely important to us. We use robust security measures to protect user information from loss, misuse and alteration. We use industry-standard practices such as encrypted communications, physically secured rooms, firewalls and password protection systems to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal information. We will notify users of a data breach involving unencrypted personal information by email or by posting a notice on the affected website. We also strive to limit access to personal information to employees performing a legitimate business function. We review our security procedures periodically to consider appropriate new technology and updated methods. Despite our efforts, no security measure is ever perfect or impenetrable.

For practical reasons, we treat personal information submitted to us in a business capacity different from information we receive in a non-business capacity. Personal information submitted to us in a business capacity (e.g. resumes, event sponsorship, etc.) may be shared with third parties, depending on the nature of the inquiry.
